A Day in the Life of a Trainee
As a trainee, you'll spend your first 10 weeks in a fast-paced, accelerated program where you'll learn the fundamentals of emergency care, developing practical skills, and gaining confidence through classroom instruction and ride-along experiences.
The final two weeks of the program are dedicated to testing and preparation for your certification exam.
You'll train alongside knowledgeable instructors and experienced EMTs, all while earning a paycheck. Once you complete your training and pass your certification exam, you'll move into a full-time EMT roleworking side by side with a seasoned partner in the field.
Requirements to Join the Program
- 18 years old
- High school diploma, GED, home school equivalent, or dual-enrolled high school senior
- Valid Michigan driver's license, clean driving record, and three years of driving experience
- Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check
- Proof of required vaccinations
- Willingness to remain calm under pressure, show empathy in emotionally intense situations, and commit to completing the full training and licensing process
