POSITION SUMMARY
The Supply & Service Technician (SST) ensures all ambulances are fully stocked, clean, and ready for service. This position supports operational readiness by managing inventory, restocking medical supplies, and performing basic non-mechanical facility and vehicle tasks.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Restock ambulances with medical supplies, linens, oxygen, and equipment.
- Perform routine, daily checks of vehicle's equipment and status before every shift, complete unit checklist and manifests as required by policy to ensure operations readiness. Ensures vehicle cleanliness, sufficient stock, and equipment placement.
- Provide careful and safe handling of equipment and supplies.
- Track supply usage and report low-inventory items to leadership.
- Maintain supply rooms, vehicle bays, and storage areas in an organized, compliant manner.
- Transport supplies and equipment and assist crews with loading/unloading, as needed.
- Support basic facility maintenance: sweeping bays, organizing equipment, changing small parts, etc.
- Ensure ambulances meet regulatory readiness standards before each shift.
- Have knowledge of the vehicles medical and non-medical equipment and its proper use.
- Required to maintain the vehicles in a clean and sanitary condition
- Required to report and relay information regarding equipment and repairs to leadership.
- Required to wear a complete uniform during all shifts.
- Required to work all shifts as assigned and attend all mandatory meetings.
- Required to adhere to standards of professional ethics on and off duty.
- Required to perform all duties in a courteous and professional manor.
- Required to communicate with all members of the health care and public safety agencies with courtesy and respect.
- Required to adhere to and follow current policy and procedures.
- Safely drive all emergency and non-emergency vehicles.
- Complete all other duties as assigned or requested.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO PATIENT PRIVACY (HIPAA)
- The employee is expected to protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with the company's privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal (and state) law, and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a health care provider. Failure to comply with the company's policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment or of membership or association with Patriot Ambulance Service.
- The employee may access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete their job duties. The employee may only share such information with those who have a need to know specific patient information necessary to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment, or other company operations.
- The employee is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, and concerns, incidents, or issues regarding the company's policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of that policy to the designated Privacy Officer.
- The employee is expected to actively participate in mandatory company privacy training and is required to communicate privacy policy information to coworkers, students, patients, and other in accordance with company policy.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid State of Michigan Driver's license and approved driving status based on acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and insurance requirements.
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs and work on feet for extended periods.
- Background check must be clear of a felony conviction.
- Must possess basic operational knowledge of computers and software applications.
- Basic understanding of medical supplies preferred (training provided).
- Reliable, team-oriented, and willing to support operations as needed.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
- Must be able to prioritize and think clearly and quickly.
- Must possess strong skills in conflict resolution and rational decision-making.
