POSITION SUMMARY

This culinary role supports the daily food service needs of our employees at our ambulance operations facility. The Café prepares fresh meals for on-duty EMTs, Paramedics, office staff, and other support staff ensuring high-quality, nutritious food, proper sanitation, and efficient service.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepare a variety of hot and cold meals according to rotating menus.
  2. Operate kitchen equipment safely (grills, fryers, ovens, slicers, etc.).
  3. Develop and plan menus using various factors such as nutrition, portion control, and cost-management.
  4. Assist with inventory tracking, restocking, and ingredient ordering.
  5. Maintain a clean, sanitary workspace and comply with health department regulations.
  6. Serve meals in an efficient, friendly manner; provide short-order "quick cook" service as needed.
  7. Displays a courteous and professional attitude.
  8. Maintains a neat, clean, and professional appearance per company Dress Code Policy.
  9. Work collaboratively with Dispatch, Leadership, and other departments to meet timing needs around shift schedules and crew availability.
  10. Ensures staff are ready at their job station or vehicle and available in a timely manner.
  11. Routinely monitors and inspects the condition of all equipment, supplies, and appliances to ensure adherence to company's Policies and Procedures for safe operation.
  12. Prepares and submits various reports as directed or requested.
  13. Leads by example through strict adherence of company policies and procedures.
  14. Represents the integrity, philosophy, and company values, including company policies and procedures, in a positive manner both internally and externally.
  15. Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO PATIENT PRIVACY (HIPAA)

  1. The employee is expected to protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with the company's privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal (and state) law, and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a health care provider.  Failure to comply with the company's policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment or of membership or association with Patriot Ambulance Service.
  2. The employee may access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete their job duties.  The employee may only share such information with those who have a need to know specific patient information necessary to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment, or other company operations.
  3. The employee is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, and concerns, incidents, or issues regarding the company's policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of that policy to the designated Privacy Officer.
  4. The employee is expected to actively participate in mandatory company privacy training and is required to communicate privacy policy information to coworkers, students, patients, and other in accordance with company policy.


QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
  2. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
  3. Strong time-management and communication skills.
  4. Experience as a cook, sous chef, or short-order cook.
  5. ServSafe certification preferred.
  6. Background check must be clear of a felony conviction.
  7. Must possess strong skills in conflict resolution and rational decision-making.
  8. Current employees must be in good standing.
